This breeding of sport horses was created in 1974 by Bernard and Sylviane RICHE, farmers on sixty hectares in Chaveyriat on the border of the Dombes and the Bresse.
Bernard was not a competitive rider but a lover of horses and wanted to base his breeding on good strains and beautiful models. He quickly won all the podiums of the Concours de Modèles et Allures.
The purchasing commission of the Republican Guard Regiment had become accustomed to passing each year.
When their son Fabrice, born in 1975, began to take out the products of the family breeding in competition of CSO , a more sporting orientation was given to the production, to arrive at performers in the disciplines of CSO, CCE, dressage and even the coupling to 4.
Thus Opaline de Chanay and Gold de Chanay competed up to 145, and Uster de Chanay then now Captain de Chanay shine in CCE up to the 4 star level, under Thai and Spanish colors.
Fabrice took over the family farm in 2015, so he let his taste for gallop and thoroughbred English speak.
Currently he has 7 brood mares, all full this year, including 4 mares of PSA among which 2 are oriented in pure race for gallop races. Thus has just been sold to OSARUS Kaiser de Chanay sales by Manatée and Rose Célèbre , already mother of 2 winners in obstacle races in France and Great Britain. He went to Ireland.
At the same time, the Chanay livestock farm has a breeding centre that benefits from the services of a specialized equine veterinarian. In addition to inseminations, the breed has its own stallion, currently LITCHI HOY (Calvaro X Jalisco).
Mares are boarded and 15 to 20 foals are insured each year.
The company is still developing with the construction of a merry-go-round in 2022, coinciding with the arrival of the 3rd generation , since Quantin ,fils de Fabrice, intends to develop on-site an activity of valorization of young horses.
The family tradition continues at the Chanay farm!
